DNA Interest Group: Inclusion Improves Medical Genetics

Genetic data have revolutionized how we diagnose medical conditions; however, as more companies like 23andMe offer reports on personal health and disease it is important to recognize their limitations. One such improvement is to include more people from underrepresented populations to contribute to medical studies. Join us as we explore how human genetic diversity is vital to our understanding of the genetic basis of disease. Join graduate researcher, Anthony Lilienthal, as he discusses the inclusion of diverse populations in direct-to-consumer research studies.

The event is part of the DNA Interest Group.

Recorded on August 28, 2018 at Iowa City Public Library.
