MidWestOne Bank hosts Book Drive for The BookEnd

donatebooks2011 Special deposits of books will be accepted at area MidWestOne Banks during September. Local banks are hosting a book drive for The BookEnd used bookstore of the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation. The BookEnd is inside the Iowa City Public Library.

The seventh annual special collection effort by MidWestOne Banks starts on September 1 and continues through September 30, 2012.

MidWestOneBankBookDrivebin Each of the MidWestOne banks in Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty will have a specially marked box to accept gently-read fiction and non-fiction books for all ages. Bank customers, staff and the public are encouraged to stop by the locations during convenient bank hours to drop off their donations.

“This book drive by MidWestOne Bank always brings in quality used books at a time when they are really needed at the BookEnd. It is such a great community service provided by MidWestOne Bank and we are very grateful that they continue to host it. Proceeds from sales at The BookEnd on the second floor of the Library help provide a lot more to read,” said Patty McCarthy, Development Director at the Iowa City Public Library.

Sales of items at The BookEnd directly benefit the Children's Summer Reading Program, Teen Summer Reading Program, and Art Purchase Prize programs of the Library, as well as add items to borrow from the library. Volunteers staff The BookEnd store on the second floor of the Library. It is open every day except Sunday.
