07/18/2018 1:00pm 07/18/2018 2:00pm Tween/Kids Event: World Wednesday- Egyptian Dancing with Kahraman Dance Studio World Wednesdays are the perfect opportunity to learn about and celebrate world cultures! Each week we will learn by doing with a craft, game or activity that explores a different part of the world. Today we will be learning about, watching a performance, and trying out regional Egyptian Dancing with Fritha from Kahraman Dance Studio. Kahraman is an Egyptian Arabic word for Amber. Kahraman, like Amber, strives to be a window to the past in the dynamic present through its presentation of the dances of the Near East and North Africa. These dances, like Amber, when polished and placed in a contemporary setting delight the eye, stir the emotions, and heal the heart. Fritha is excited to talk about the history of Egyptian dance from certain regions and discussing the various kinds of dance, such as recreational dancing in the home and performance for special occasions, and to get you dancing today!
