After successfully evading an Urgals ambush, Eragon is adopted into the Ingeitum clan and sent to finish his training so he can further help the Varden in their struggle against the Empire.

Lauren's picture

Eragon’s epic adventure continues in this second book of the Inheritance series. Christopher Paolini consistently goes to great lengths to describe details of Eragon’s growth as a dragon rider, it amazes me how many events take place in the span of one book. In this book you see major character development, as Eragon and Saphira grow into their roles as legendary defenders of the empire. This book also adds in chapters from the perspectives of other characters like Roran and Nasuada, which effectively builds up the suspense throughout the storyline. As you read it’s obvious that a major battle is in Eragon’s future, but it remains to be seen if the outcome will save the empire from their brutal ruler, Galbatorix. -Lauren
