Press ReleaseIowa City Public Library and Bookmobile will be closed Friday, Dec. 10, for Staff Inservice Day.


The annual Inservice Day is an opportunity for all Library staff to attend training and discussions designed to improve services for patrons. 


Staff recognition is also part of the Library’s annual Inservice. Library employees will be recognized for every five years of service. This year, eight staff members will be honored for their service, ranging from five years to 20 years at the Library. Together they represent 105 cumulative years of library service. 


The Library’s external book drops will be available at the following locations:
•    Downtown at 123 S. Linn St.
•    East side Hy-Vee Food Store at 812 S. 1st Avenue
•    West side GreenState Credit Union at 825 Mormon Trek Blvd 


The Downtown Library will resume regular hours on Saturday, Dec.11, while the ICPL Bookmobile will resume regular hours on Monday, Dec. 13. 


Even when the Library is closed, online services are available 24/7 at icpl.org/digital. This includes account access and, for those who live in our service area, access to ICPL's Digital Library including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, The New York Times, and Kanopy video streaming.


The Iowa City Public Library is a center of community life that connects people of all ages with information, engages them with the world of ideas and with each other, and enriches the community by supporting learning, promoting literacy, and encouraging creativity.
