Iowa City author Katie Runde's debut novel, "The Shore," was just released and has received rave reviews—Glamour magazine listed it as one of the ten best books to read in May, and a New York Times reviewer wrote that the book "is never sentimental; it is absorbing, lucid and true." The community is invited to celebrate with the author at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, on the rooftop at The Chauncey, 404 E. College St. The event is free with no registration required and will feature the author in conversation with Lyz Lenz, another brilliant Iowa author.

First, of all, we want to say thank you for making the Iowa City Library's 2022 Book Brackets competition a success. We are so pleased that dozens of patrons filled out their brackets and that in the six-week period the contest was open, we received almost 1000 votes.  After the final round, we have our winners!   Adults/Teens: The House on Mango Street by S. ICPL patrons cast hundreds of votes to support their favorite books and authors during the first round of our annual Book Brackets Tournament. We are excited to announce the books that advanced to the second round. Don't forget to keep voting; the second round is open from Monday, March 14 to Sunday, March 20 at 8 p.m. You can vote in person at the Book Brackets display located on the first floor or you can cast your vote online.

The Iowa City Public Library invites adults 21 or older to a wine tasting on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is hosted by the Wine & Spirits department of the HyVee Drugstore in Iowa City. Distributors of wine, craft beer, and spirits will offer samples of their products during this casual drop-in event at the HyVee on First and Rochester Avenues in Iowa City.
