Press ReleaseNew digital collection, hoopla, goes live Dec. 7 at the Iowa City Public Library

The Iowa City Public Library is introducing a new streaming digital library collection with over a million titles and which Collection Services Coordinator Anne Mangano calls “a game changer."

This new resource is called hoopla and it's unique because it provides access to all types of resources--including movies, music, eBooks, audiobooks, and comics--and because there is no need to wait on hold for popular items. Hoopla’s collection contains a mix of educational and popular titles in over 75 different languages including Spanish, French, and Hindi.

ICPL cardholders with resident status--that is, those who live in Iowa City, Hills, Lone Tree, University Heights, and rural Johnson County--can get started with hoopla by visiting hoopladigital.com and signing up with their library card number, the card password/pin, and a valid email address. Users will be able to borrow and watch, listen to, or read up to eight items a month.

Hoopla is powered by donations to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.

The Iowa City Public Library is a center of community life that connects people of all ages with information, engages them with the world of ideas and with each other, and enriches the community by supporting learning, promoting literacy, and encouraging creativity.
