Though the Bookmobile is always a happy place (who doesn't love the novelty of a library on wheels?!) we saw even more smiles than usual this week. To celebrate National Bookmobile Day and our Bookmobile's 1st Birthday, we provided some special treats, freebies, and programming on our Mobile Library all week long.
At our weekly school stops we were met by a brand new Iowa City Transit bus so students could tour the vehicle and learn about the City's Summer Library Bus program, which allows kids to ride to the Library for FREE in the Summer. Read more about how to utilize this program and our Ride and Read service on our website.
Even our Little Library Bear couldn't resist visiting the Bookmobile this week! We think he isn't quite ready to drive, but he likes to dream.
Though we are wrapping up the celebration today, our service is still going strong! View our schedule to meet us at any of our weekly stops to check the Bookmobile out for yourself!
Five years ago, one high school faced a semester of tragedy in which five cheerleaders died. Now, Monica, sister of one of the deceased, looks back at the situations surrounding the deaths and begins to wonder if the police missed anything. Did they catch the right murderer? Did her sister really kill herself? What happened to cause all these deaths in her town? On top of the questions, Monica sorts through her own struggles with an older man, changing friendships, and existing in a family still mourning the loss of her sister. For a fast paced thriller filled with twists and revelations, pick up The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. You won’t be putting it down any time soon! -Shawna
