Masks are required in the Library and on the Bookmobile following guidance from the Johnson County Public Health Department.

Off the Road, but Working Hard

While the Iowa City Public Library is closed in response to COVID-19, and our Bookmobile is social distancing under the College Street bridge, staff are still hard at work. From answering questions over the phone, email, and chat, endeavoring some cleaning projects back at the building, inventorying the collection...we're staying busy trying to reach our community in these swiftly changing times but also looking ahead to continue to bring Iowa City the best we have to offer.

Today we took advantage of a narrow window when it wasn't raining in order to stock the Bookmobile with more picture books.

It is important for us to stock the shelves even if things aren't going out. In this way when we do welcome people back aboard the bookmobile we can greet them with a smile and some new favorites.

It is only week one of our closure, but we are missing the open road, our awesome regulars, and checking out the things people like to the community we love.
